The Laramie Project centers on the aftermath of the murder of Matthew Sheppard, a 21-year-old gay
American student brutally attacked, tied to a fence, and left to die. Members of The Tectonic Theater
Project travelled to Laramie, Wyoming to interview residents about how the violence affected the town.
These are the stories from real people who lived at the epicenter of one of the United States’ most
heinous anti-gay hate crimes.
“We are thrilled to present The Laramie Project, a powerful narrative that explores themes of tolerance
and humanity,” says Zak Zimmer, president of the Dartmouth Players Board of Directors. “Showcasing
diverse stories like this is crucial for fostering understanding and empathy within our community.”
On stage for three weeks with a total of 11 performances, The Laramie Project is a must-see event,
starring local performers Joanne Arbuthnott, Sean Baker, Liam Browne, Johanna Gerrits, Ellis Pickersgill,
Mehul Vyas, Jacob Wilson, and Zak Zimmer.

“The Laramie Project continues to resonate, even with the progress we’ve made over the years,” says
producer Joshua Law. “It is a reminder of how far we’ve come, and how much further we have to go. It’s
an honest and reflective theatre piece.”
