In a recent interview with the Daily Star, Slash says, “Guns N’ Roses are trying to make their own record and I’m working with them in that capacity.”

This update comes eight years after Slash reunited with Axl Rose and Duff McKagan for the Not In This Lifetime… Tour in 2016. Since then, fans have eagerly awaited new music from the classic lineup. Although the band has released a few singles in recent years—such as Absurd and Hard Skool in 2021—these were outtakes from the Chinese Democracy sessions in the late 1990s.

Meanwhile, Slash has been busy with his solo project, Orgy Of The Damned, a blues covers album featuring an impressive lineup of guest vocalists, including Brian Johnson, Iggy Pop, and Steven Tyler. Notably absent from the album are Myles Kennedy and Axl Rose, highlighting its distinction from Guns N’ Roses.

The last Guns N’ Roses album featuring both Slash and Axl Rose was The Spaghetti Incident? in 1993. The follow-up, Chinese Democracy, took fifteen years and $13 million to complete, making it the most expensive album ever produced.

Given this history, Slash’s revelation that they are “trying” to make new music should be met with cautious optimism. For now, fans can enjoy Orgy Of The Damned, out now on Gibson Records, while awaiting further updates from the Guns N’ Roses camp.
